Don’t Let Your Trial Become Your Identity
DON’T LET YOUR TRIAL BECOME YOUR IDENTITY
Too often we let something that we experience… in particular a challenge or trial, define who we are going to BE (for an indefinite amount of time – and unnecessarily).
Whether it was being teased for any number of things growing up… going through a divorce… loosing a baby, job, or home… or even things as seemingly awful as domestic violence, being sexually abused, and struggling with some form of addiction… these experiences are only meant to reveal your character (perception & consciousness) back to you … IN THE MOMENT…. THAT’S IT!!!
To hold on to an undesirable experience, is to see your life through fear-colored lenses. This means that regardless of the money, lovers, health, and fun opportunities that are available to you at any moment… YOU CAN’T SEE THEM… because every situation you contemplate pursuing is clouded with the fear surrounding the trauma you felt during your trial.
One way to overcome this, and to restore your identity to a healthier state of being is to begin to look at your life with an elevated perspective… one that doesn’t include running every opportunity for living through the fear-based beliefs from your past.
Now, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t use the wisdom you gained as a result of that situation… as that was part of what your soul gained by going through the experience. But, more importantly… use the experience for what it WAS…. a lesson for how you can make your experiences better in the PRESENT.
