DON’T TALK ABOUT THINGS THAT BOTHER YOU
While it may seem a bit counter intuitive… one of the best things you can do when someone or something bothers you is to NOT TALK ABOUT IT.
Now, I’m not suggesting that if you need to share something in order to better process an experience that you should bite your tongue… (well, if you can you might want to) but, more specifically, that telling the story of something that bothers you actually works against you more often than not.
The reason being is this…
When you repeat a story about a person or situation that is bothering you, you usually end up building so much negative momentum around it, that by the time you’re done, you’ve made a mountain out of a molehill, so to speak, and will tend to find yourself right in the middle of an emotional-teazy (my term for temporary breakdown).
If however, you simply observe the person or situation as an example of what you “don’t want” and then don’t speak of it again, your lack of attention to it will ALLOW it – and experiences like it – to whither from your world.
